Kremlin: Any attempt to legitimize Russian asset freeze to fail

MOSCOW, Apr 14 (PRIME) -- Any attempt to legitimize Russia's assets freeze is bound to fail, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday commenting on a report by newspaper Die Welt that the European Commission acknowledges the need to return the assets.

"We demand that this be blocked, we think that this is illegal. And we are convinced that any attempt to legitimize this anyhow is doomed," Peskov said.

He said that it is yet to be seen what further steps the European authorities will take on the assets.
